Air Fryers have become one of the newest most talked Kitchen Appliances in the recent years. From making crispy fries to grilled veggies and even desserts, Air Fryers promise taste without any guilt.

Perhaps, Along with popularity comes controversy and some controversies are posteriors of spread rumors. We will bust any myths and rumors with facts and logic.

One common question people ask is:

“Are Air fryers really healthy?” and the bigger fear is “ We have heard that Air fryers are dangerous because they cause Cancer”.

Why are Air Fryers considered healthy?

In traditional Frying , the food gets submerged in the oil at high temperatures. This increases:

This fear mostly comes from confusion about acrylamide. Acrylamide can form during deep frying, baking , toasting, Roasting and Toasting bread. It is related to High heat and over browning or burning of food and not the appliance itself.

There is no scientific evidence providing that air fryers cause cancer. In fact, compared to deep frying , air frying may reduce exposure to certain products because it uses less oil, it can reduce over browning if monitored properly, it avoids oil breakdown t extremely high temperatures. The real issue in the case of Acylamide is burning of food regardless of the appliance in use be it OTG, gas, oven or air fryer.

 

How to use an Air fryer.

·       Avoid overcooking or charring of food

·       Cook at moderate temperatures

·       Lightly coat food instead of soaking in oil

·       Soak or rinse potatoes before cooking to reduce acrylamide

·       Include proteins, vegetables, lean meats and other nutrients rich foods
